Before 1907, the human race could not
indulge in this bit of fun. People were unaware of the
satisfaction they could get out of plopping in a quarter,
turning the metal knob, seeing what color would come out,
and enjoying the burst of flavor afterwards. Vending
machines will never go out of style. Although they are
becoming more technologically complicated and fancy, they
will always be popular with both kids and adults.
If you’re thinking about purchasing bubblegum vending
machines for the first time, there are a few things you need
to consider.
First, be sure to check the warranty on a
machine. If it doesn’t last for very long, or there
isn't one at all, you might do better to consider a
different product.
Also, you want a machine that is low
maintenance. Making frequent repairs is no fun, nor is
having to take the machine repeatedly to a service center.
You don't want to spend more money on repairs than you make
on the gum.
Many vending machines take only one type of coin, usually a
quarter. If you have dimes and nickels, you’re out of luck.
If something costs more than a quarter, you have to keep
putting in coins and turning the knob. However, many newer
coin mechanisms take all kinds of coins and even bills, and
you can insert more than one coin at a time.
What do you do when something gets stuck in the machine?
Some kids will try to get free candy or gum by inserting
plastic or cardboard in bubblegum vending machines. Of
course, not only does nothing come out, but the machine also
becomes jammed up and prevents other users from buying your
merchandise. You won't make any money until you fix the
problem. To prevent this, buy a machine with a coin
mechanism that recognizes the insertion of foreign
substances and won't turn.
